My Animation projects

In college I had the opportunity to take many animation modules, learning 2D and 3D modelling, 2D and 3D animation and the many aspects of animation in particular with lighting and rendering.

Lights, Cameras, Render 1

For this project I was tasked with creating three different scenes with varying lighting practices and tools used in them. Each scene contains one of the following:

  1. An Arnold skydome light and a single Arnold area fill light

  2. Two Arnold  area lights (one key, one fill) and an Arnlod cylindrical area back/top light

  3. An interior version with an Arnold physicalSky and at least one Arnold portal light.

Lights, Cameras, Render 2

The second time I was tasked with creating three different scenes using varying techniques for the rendering and lighting on a more difficult scale. Here where the three scenes for this project:

1: An interior scene lit with photometric lights, portals etc. to produce accurate internal lighting. Add subtle volumetric lighting.

2: A studio-lit scene of a glass sculpture demonstrating ai shaders, reflection, refraction and caustics.

3: An exterior scene using Image Based Lighting (IBL) using High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDRI). This scene should also include bump and displacement maps.

Cartoon Rig & Principles of animation

This was an intense project of learning about more in depth rigging techniques and delving more in the principles of squash and stretch. I had to create a storyboard, rig the provided model and finally do a short animation for the project.

Mel Scripting - chessboard

In this project I used mel script to create/delete a chessboard, change the colour of the chess pieces with a colour picker and be able to move the chess pieces imputing an x y z into the menu provided by the script.
